The film Independence Day was when I first felt the power and energy of seeing a sold out movie. Everyone brimming with energy, unabashed about laughing or clapping aloud. And then that magic moment happens. Someone thought dead dramatically appears. A one liner is spoken with perfect zip, or best yet, a foe is defeated. Then together, as almost like you all planned it ahead of time, you applaud and hoot wildly.
Since Independence Day was aptly released Independence Day weekend, a loud U.S.A. chant went up when Bill Pullman and company began taking down the monstrous star ships that threatened humanity. We stood from our seats for a long standing ovation. It was an incredible moment and a memory I try to share when ever I can.
Other moments I can recall cheering alongside others in movie theater are:
Inglorious Basterds
Man, watching that now is pretty brutal.
Terminator Salvation
I think I squeeled aloud when that happened.
Those are only a few examples. Please share your awesome movie theater experiences!
